You are what you eat!

Just eat “real” food. It’s that simple. Focus on the foods you can eat – fresh, natural foods like meat, vegetables and fruit. Choose foods that support performance and provide the basic building blocks that compose what we call “YOU”.  Yes, the food you put into your body 3 times a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, for a lifetime, determine what you’re made of down to the DNA level!  That’s important stuff folks – that’s why here at Down Home CrossFit, we want you to challenge yourself not only to commit to the workouts, but to commit to your nutrition as well.

If you want the elevator version, CrossFit Inc.’s approach to nutrition goes like this: “Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat.” (CrossFit Journal, September 2002, “The Garage Gym”).

We have seen countless successes with this nutritional approach and we want you to be the next one! Explore the resources on this page to learn more about this lifestyle – yes, it’s a lifestyle not a diet.

So why should I eat like a “caveman”? This is the question I asked myself when proposed to try this lifestyle. So I looked into the subject – deeply, and became intrigued. I gave it a try. After only two weeks of actually being “paleo” as we say, I had become convinced!

Now a few years into it, I have never felt better, and it will take a lot of convincing to get me to go back to eating “normal” – check that, I will never go back to that!  Why are we embarking on this adventure?

Well, it has become obvious to me, from all the information I’ve sifted through over the years, that this lifestyle is the most conducive to optimum health and longevity. I have personally seen individuals lose large amounts of weight, reverse insulin resistance, decrease anxiety, improve mood, increase energy, decrease stress, and just feel better in general.
